Unlike infrared saunas, a traditional sauna creates a complete sensorial experience by heating stones (not bodies) to extreme temperatures. As water pours over the stones, it turns to steam and fills the sauna with a beautiful steamy heat that opens up pores, promotes a deeper, intense sweat that improves blood circulation and muscle recovery.

Wildhut saunas are built by craftsmen with over 20-years sauna and timber expertise. They’re built with premium timber, slow grown from cold climates and thermo treated without chemicals. Unlike others, they won’t warp or buckle in the heat.

An ultra-strong and sustainable core, with cutting-edge cross-laminated timber construction outperforms framed saunas by years. It also provides the best sauna experience, with fast, even heat and the highest grade insulation.

The beautiful interior is crafted with elegant A-grade alder or aromatic cedar.

Your Wildhut comes fully assembled, but if access is particularly tricky, we’ll deliver it in modular sections. Both options are space saving, cleverly designed, robust and adaptable.

Our unique powder coated stainless steel bearer platform ensures a perfect installation, the option to relocate and an undercarriage that won’t rot in the great British weather. Insect mesh protection around the base deters insect infestation and protects the timber for decades.

Cross Laminated Timber is built into the walls, floor and ceiling of our saunas - this innovative, engineered building material (made from layers of pine, spruce or fir boards) is glued and pressed under immense pressure to create a solid wood. Which each layer placed at right angles to the one below, it creates a super strong, sustainable core.

Planning considerations

Space & location – a sheltered part of the garden with good drainage and a level foundation, with enough room for the sauna structure and access paths. Consider ventilation and safety too if the client wants a traditional wood-burning stove to heat their sauna.

If privacy is an issue, you might want to consider hedges, trellises or fencing.

If space is ample, you might want to consider a relaxation area alongside.

Access to utilities - electricity for heaters, lighting, and ventilation and a water supply if a shower or plunge pool is desired.

Cooling rituals – for small gardens, our marine grade showers make for easy contrast therapy. You may want to consider taking full advantage of the contrast therapy opportunity and make space for a Wildhut ice plunge, cleverly designed to match our saunas. And for larger gardens and estates, a bathing lake might be just the thing.

Planning permission is not required, as a Wildhut’s height of 2.5m high falls within permitted development. Its unique bearer platform also ensures a perfect installation AND the option to relocate.
